The Xbox One and PS4 have now become the first gaming consoles to support cloud gaming, with the PC version of Microsoft’s upcoming massively multiplayer online game, Cloud Imperium Games’ Star Citizen, making its way to the new consoles.
The PS4 is already cloud gaming’s biggest hit, but this latest news comes on the heels of Cloud Imperium’s own Cloud Imperium Jam, which also sees a cloud-based version of its massively multiplayer game, The Crew, coming to the PlayStation 4.
The Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 Pro all have cloud-enabled versions of their games, while the Xbox One has the most at launch.
The Cloud Imperium Cloud Imperium Game Jam has been announced by Microsoft, the developer behind Star Citizen.
In a blog post, the company said it will host an Xbox One Cloud Imperium Gamers Day on October 10, with “the chance to showcase your skills and showcase the incredible work you’re putting into the game”.
It’s not clear when the game will arrive on the console, but it’s unlikely to arrive before November, when the Xbox and PS Plus launch.
Cloud Imperium is also working on a new game, Star Citizen: Arena Commander, which was announced on Monday and has yet to be announced.
